"Not eating chard. That's what all those weirdos eat at their stupid picnics on the Hungry Ghost lawn." -Nina

The Committee was formed after some members of the community submitted a petition calling for more community involvement in government affairs. Or, to paraphrase City Councilor Michael Bardsley, who opined on this topic during a past radio show on the Community Radio Hour, the effort seemed to grow out of frustration from normally influential and well-to-do residents, who suddenly found their opinions and desires not being met with the same responsive actions they were accustomed to, who then collectively decided that this was a problem that needed to be addressed.
Mary Serreze has video presentations made to the City Council by the members of the committee, prior to their approval, here. As well, courtesy of Mary, here you can listen to audio commentary from citizens and the Council during a City Council meeting in November of '07, when a discussion to create an Ad Hoc Committee on Best Practices was had.
